Remote Systems Technician

Job Purpose
A leading specialist engineering company has a requirement for a Remote Systems Technician. The role will involve:

Assembly, testing and maintenance of the ELF (Extremely Low Frequency) / electro-hydraulic remote control systems used in the actuation and monitoring of STATS Tecno Plug™ Pipeline Isolation Tooling.

Working in a small team reporting to the Remote Systems Development Engineer, you will have the ability and motivation to work independently and play a role in helping to develop both the product and procedures.

The role is primarily workshop based with the occasional need to be present during field deployments.

 • Intervention and Isolations Manager
Along With
 • Remote System Technicians, Trainee Remote System Technician, Remote Systems Development Engineer
 
Main Responsibilities
 • Assembly and test of remote control systems
 • Fault finding and repair
 • Preparation of systems for FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) and deployment
 • Assist in the development of the hydraulic and ELF systems
 • Creation and development of company maintenance / diagnostic / test and operational procedures
 • Stock Control within remote systems workshop
 
Individual Quality and Safety Responsibilities
 • To comply with STATS Integrated Management System when carrying out project engineering tasks
 • To comply with STATS and Client quality, safety and environmental management systems and procedures at all times
 • Ensure all accidents / incidents / near misses / hazards are immediately reported to the QHSE Manager
 
Qualifications
 • HNC / HND in hydraulic and electrical, electronic control discipline or broad equivalent
 • UK driving licence
 
Experience / Competence / Skills / Knowledge
 • Previous Oil & Gas Industry experience desired but alternative industry including aerospace or other safety critical environment would be acceptable
 • Hydraulic mechanical (90-95%), instrumentation, electrical and electronic (5-10%)
 • Experience working with hydraulic / electrical / electronic control systems
 • IT skills – MS office (Word / Excel) and Database use, probity, outlook

 • Ability to work both independently and in a small team
 • Ability to develop effective working relationships with client representatives and other sub-contractors on system deployments
 • Motivation to improve and advance existing technologies / procedures
 • Flexible to work overtime as required
